Fighting the last "War"

LGF has this post about a guy who plans to bring several thousand western citizens to azza and J&S to serve as human shields for the terrorists. He apparently tried a similar stunt in Iraq in 2003 .
There are almost 600 comments and I haven't read them all but I think I have an original insight on this. Apart from the deeply ingrained racism that makes someone think that the israeli government or the american government or going to be more worried or careful with the lives of westerners then they are with the lives of arabs , what I see here is anachronism. That guy is living in a peacetime reality where the fight against terrorism is a police matter and civilian casualties are something to be avoided at almost any cost . But this is war . And in war time enemy civilian casualties or even casualties among non enemy civilians who are living in enemy occupied territories is just NOT a major concern.
What makes things even worse from his point of view is that there are no limiting factors here , The cold war is over and no one needs to keep wars limited to avoid MAD so this war ( or these two wars if you want) can escalate at will .
The last war fought like that was WW2 and I don't remember anyone then giving a shit about civilians .
This guy is living in the 50's and 60's and 70's limited , media oriented insurgency/terrorism proxy wars when he should be looking at the early 40's so not only is O'keefe anachronistic he is not anachronistic enough.
